Guiding Light Update
  Friday, May 23
     by Vivian

Vanessa has placed a call to Matt at home and he answered the phone. She
isnt speaking, though, as Matt repeatedly asks whos there. It looks as
though shes about to say something, but wonders what on earth shes doing,
and quickly hangs up. She tells herself that she has to go home.

Michelle excitedly tells Bill that shes been investigating Cindy
Richardson, whom she believes has her mothers heart. From what shes been
able to find out, there was a transformation in the woman after the
transplant. Cindy used to be shy and retiring and suddenly became outgoing
and confident. She also changed careers after the surgery. Im sure it
had nothing to do with the fact that she was no longer going to die from
heart disease, Michelle.

Alan wants to know why Annie dragged him out to the woods, perhaps hoping
to commune with more than nature but knowing its not about to happen, not
today anyway. Annie insists that he close his eyes and proceeds to take
off his tie. (uh oh) Alan says he enjoys being undressed by a woman, but
usually knows what shes thinking about at the time. Annie then hands him
a picnic basket, which is a disappointment to Alan, but he covers his
feelings.

Marah asks her mother if she pushed Annie down the stairs. Reva and Josh
both say no, and Reva says her children should know the truth. When Shane
tries to tell them what Annie said about it, Josh jumps in to defend Reva.
But Reva wants to be honest with her children herself. She sits beside
Shane, who would rather sit in a chair with his teddy bear. Reva and Marah
then sit near him, and Reva explains the situation. She tells them they
have nothing to be afraid of concerning her, she didnt hurt Annie or the
baby, and she actually tried to stop her from falling rather than pushed
her. She feels the rest is too complicated to explain. Marah believes her
but Shane remains silent (thank God for small favors). Reva thanks God for
her children every day and tells them how much she loves them. She thanks
them for letting her back into their lives when she came back from the
dead. She also tells them that none of this is their fault. Shane must
have thought it was, because he asks why shes sending them away if it wasnt.

The picnic is laid out and Alan is appreciative. He says a picnic to a
Spaulding is a martini on the terrace. Annie says she wants this picnic to
be memorable. Alan seems relaxed and smiles a lot, which is a great relief
after all his months of scowling. Annie thanks Alan for the effort he made
for her at the hearing. She feels her troubles with Reva are almost at an
end.

Reva tells the kids that they wont be away for long, and that they should
think of the trip as a vacation. Marah wants to know if they will all be a
family when they return. Josh and Reva assure her that they will. Marah
isnt satisfied and wants a pinkie promise to be sure. Reva tells them
both that they are always in her heart and that they can take her with them
to Tulsa. The children will also be in her heart while she waits to see
them again.

Vanessa looks at Matts picture. She really wanted to talk to him.
Instead she calls Roger, the only person who knows that shes alive, other
than Zach, who is busy waxing his wings. Van would like Roger to tell her
how Matt is doing and whether or not hes seeing anyone. Roger replies
that as far as he knows, Matt is still in mourning. Van insists that he
find out for sure and says that Rog owes her. Roger admits this fact and
says he always pays his debts.

Annie tells Alan that if you put a dandelion flower under ones chin you
can tell if they are in love. Hes never heard of this, and Annie claims
hes led a sheltered life. She forgot the sunscreen and leans close to
retrieve a hat for him. Alan doesnt mind being close, but only wears the
hat for a moment. He looks decidedly un-Spaulding-ish in it. Hes had
enough playing and decides to get to business. He knows that Annie wants
something other than a picnic with him. He thinks that Annie needs
reassurance that he will stand by her. She asks him if he will.

Marah cries in Revas arms. Shane continues to sit like a rock in the
chair. Marah promises to write and call her mother, and to take care of
Shane. Rusty says his goodbyes to Reva and Josh and leaves with Marah.
Shane tries to make a quick escape but is caught by his dad. Josh wants
Shane to give his mother a hug and he lets her hug him, then runs away. He
then runs back to her and tells her he loves her. Shane catches up with
the others, leaving Reva to cry in Joshs arms.

Michelle has talked to a number of people who know Cindy. Bill thinks
that Michelle should go to Cindys house and talk to her, and offers to
accompany her. Roger arrives to visit Matt. Matt is very suspicious when
Rog inquires about the hospital wing. He wants to know what Roger is
really after.

Alan tells Annie that she is now part of his family, even if that doesnt
seem like much of a compliment. Annie says she hasnt had a friend in a
long time. Alan claims that Annie didnt have to bribe him with a picnic.
He knows that Annie is holding something back from him, but its okay with
him. Annie concedes that he is right. She leads him to the blanket and
they lie back to look at the clouds. If only the board members could see
Alan now. Annie can hardly wait to look at clouds like this with the man
of her obsession. Alan frowns.

Reva is as pessimistic as Josh is optimistic. She is trying to be
prepared to lose her children. Josh tries his best to cheer her up, but
Reva is determined to name off all the things she wants for her children
since she wont be around when they grow up. Josh pulls her away from the
door as she tries to leave, and tells her he wont let her go to jail.
Reva is not as certain of the future. Josh tells her that Marah believes
in her mother, and Reva counters that Shane has spent more time with Annie
than with her. This starts the tears again (for Reva, Annie, or Shane, Im
not sure). Josh insists that they will prove her innocence and has a lot
of confidence in this. Reva tries to leave again but he begs her to stay.
He doesnt want either of them to be alone. Reva stays and cries in his
arms again.

Annie wants to know what her bud is thinking. Alan says that Annie
shouldnt be so sure that she and Josh will get back together. Annie isnt
going to let a little thing like her husband hating her get in the way.
She is sure she can make Josh love her as he once did. As soon as her
nemesis is out of the way, that is. Alan wants to go at this point, but
Annie makes him look at the clouds again. After all, neither of them have
any plans for the afternoon. Annie thanks Alan for making her life happy,
and Alan tells her not to go overboard. This is, of course, the
understatement of the week.

Matt wants to know what the heck Roger wants, and Roger asks about Bridget
and Peter. Matt is not fooled. He knows that Roger resents Van and her
family. He even threatens Roger, but Rog only asks to help on the
memorial. Matt is incredulous, turns down the offer, and walks out. Hart
arrives and he and his father leave together.

Vanessa tells Michael all about her un-phone call to Matt. She said
hearing his voice made it all real, and she realizes how much she misses
him. When Michael leaves, Van goes to the computer to contact Robert.
Hes there, and Tess apologizes for snapping at him earlier. Robert
doesnt want to know if she called her husband or not, as it isnt his
business. Tess says she misses the simple things about her marriage, like
taking walks and going to dinner together.

Michelle arrives at Cindys house. She knocks, then turns and sees a
vision of herself and her mother (who looks wonderful, welcome back!). The
two women hug, and Mo tells her daughter that shes never left her and will
be with her forever. The vision fades and Cindy answers the door. She is
surprised to see Michelle.

Roger asks Hart about Bridget, and Hart replies that he hasnt heard from
her since she took Peter away. Rog then asks about Matt. He seems to have
a chip on his shoulder. Hart thinks hes just moody, and Roger suggests
that he find romance. To Rogers surprise, Hart says that Matt is already
involved with someone.

Robert tells Tess about the blind lunch date. Tess(a) remembers that she
hasnt dated in a long while. Robert asks if they could have a computer
date the following evening, and wont take no for an answer. Tess smiles.

Josh refuses to let his love go, and Reva admits that she cant live
without him. Josh is sure they will be together like they were meant to
be. Even when he thought that Reva was dead, he tried but never once gave
up on their life together. He pretended to move on but in reality never
accepted her death. Reva asks him to kiss her and he happily obliges. The
kiss becomes passionate. Just then, the two As arrive on the porch after
their outing. Annie is carrying flowers. Alan goes to open the door but
sees the scene inside through the window. He hesitates, and Annie wants to
know what is wrong.
