GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE -- THURSDAY, MAY 1, 1997

                          REUNION & RETRIBUTION

Directed by Joanne Sedwick

Highlights:
* Roger gives Blake a pep talk.
* Amanda caters to Ross.
* Reva & Josh reunite.
* Alan helps Annie in her plan for retribution.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Blake is trying on clothes in an attempt to find
something suitable for Amanda's cocktail party. She covers up with a
robe to answer the door. She invites FauxRoger (Dennis Parlato) in. He
offers to escort her to the party, but she bemoans her lack of wardrobe.
He asks what's really bothering her. It's Ross, of course. Rog promises
to protect her from him, but Blake is worried about protecting Ross from
Amanda. Roger picks out a red sparkly dress, but Blake doesn't think
it's quite right for him. He tells her to put it on so they can leave.

SPAULDING MANSION: Ross asks Amanda where everyone is. She invited him
early on purpose, but promises not to attack him just yet. She shows him
the Springfield Mirror. The headline says, "DUPED DAD FOR D.A.?"

PARK: Reva & Josh are relieved to run into each other. Reva gives Josh a
desperate hug & they are soon liplocked. They break it off & start
talking simultaneously about trying to find each other. Reva is touched
to hear that Josh missed her. She missed him too. Josh wonders why she's
had this sudden change of heart. He says he broke up with Annie. Reva
knows. She wants to explain to him why she was pushing him away earlier.
Josh doesn't care; all that matters is that they're together. They
declare their love for each other. Reva still wants to explain, but Josh
wants to go someplace private first, nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Reva
suggests her place. Josh already feels like he's at home now that
they're in each other's arms. Reva says they can be together after she
tells him everything. They join in another extended liplock.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Blake changes her mind about going to the party. Now she
thinks it's a bad idea. Amanda is really out to get Ross. Roger can't
think why Amanda would want Ross when she's involved with him. Blake
says Amanda's only interested in collecting conquests. Roger points out
that Amanda did agree to marry him. He turns Blake around to face him.
"Who do you think is standing in front of you?" he quizzes her. "My
wonderful, but complicated father," replies Blake. "Wrong!" retorts
FauxRoger. [How true!] He says he's Springfield's Terminator. "I take
out hearts the way most men take out the garbage." [In Amanda's case,
that's pretty much the same thing, anyway.] Blake is convinced that
something is going on between Ross & Amanda, but Roger doesn't believe
it. He asks where the boys are. Blake says Michelle is babysitting over
at the Bauer house. Rick will have some time with them too.

Finally, Roger convinces Blake to accompany him. She recalls that she
did promise to meet Holly there, after Holly drops Fletcher off at the
airport. Roger says there's only one reason Amanda might be coming on to
Ross, and that's to make him jealous.

SPAULDING MANSION: Ross takes the article in stride. The paper is filled
with Weekly World News-type stories about aliens; at least everything
they wrote about him was true. They could have said the other father was
an alien. At any rate, his chances of getting the DA spot have just
plummeted. Ross wonders why Amanda is so interested in the subject. He
thinks it must have something to do with Roger. Amanda says she just
wants Ross to get the job because she knows he's eminently qualified.
The people at the party tonight could really help Ross. Ross wants to
leave right now, but Amanda says he can't. Why? "Because the party
hasn't even begun," she answers with a wink.

REVA'S HOUSE: Josh is incredulous when he hears that Annie laid a trail
of false clues & convinced Reva that they were sisters. How did Annie
even know Reva was looking for her sister. Reva hasn't figured that out
yet; Annie keeps sidestepping the question. But that doesn't matter now.
Reva feels horrible for having pushed Josh away. Josh knew all along
that she didn't really mean it. Reva explains how she felt about not
wanting to break up her sister's marriage. Josh figures Annie was
banking on that. Reva says Annie nearly pulled it off. They nearly lost
each other. She gets squeaky as she tells Josh that he's her heart &
means everything to her. Josh is so happy. He wants to wake up next to
her in the morning. They joke about one antoher's annoying little
habits, then get tender again. Reva says they have another chance now.
"Always, Bud. Always." More kissing.

DEAD BABY CENTRAL: Annie greets Alan at the door & gives him a big hug.
She doesn't know what she'd do without him. Alan asks why she's so
upset. It's Reva, says Annie. Josh is back in town & he's bound to find
her. She'll tell him her side of the story & Annie will be sunk. Reva
knows the whole truth, but she doesn't know that Alan was involved. Alan
thought Annie had already accepted that her marriage was over. Annie
says she'll never accept that. She wants Alan to help her, but he
doesn't think he can. Annie looks at him pitifully, so Alan accompanies
her into the living room to discuss it further.

Alan points out that Reva has no real proof that Annie misled her; in
the end it comes down to Annie's word versus Reva's. Alan asks if it's
ever occurred to Annie that she's going through all this agony for a man
who doesn't deserve her. Annie says Josh is all she wants. Alan doesn't
think he can help her. Annie asks if Alan is going to the party. He was
planning on it. He asks if Annie is going. She wasn't going to, she
says, because she didn't want to make Josh feel awkward. (She turns away
as she says this, so Alan won't see she's lying.) She wonders if Alan
can find out whether Reva will be at the party. Alan promises to make
sure Reva doesn't show up. No, says Annie, she wants Reva at the party.
Alan doesn't understand. Annie admits that her motives aren't exactly
pure. Alan's intrigued by the spark of revenge he detects. He agrees to
get Reva to the party, as long as he doesn't have to reveal his part in
the wild goose chase. Annie promises that the evening will be quite
interesting. Alan asks what she has in mind. Annie says it's along the
lines of a public humiliation of Reva. Alan likes this idea.

SPAULDING MANSION: Amanda continues to deny that she has any designs on
Ross. She suggests that if they can't be lovers, they could be kindred
spirits. Amanda likens her turned-about paternity to Ross's twins by
different fathers. They've both had their lives turned upside-down &
inside-out & exposed to public ridicule in the press. This is a chance
for both of them to hold their heads up high & say they don't give a
hoot. Ross thanks her for the pep talk.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Roger says Blake acts like Amanda has supernatural
powers. Well, Amanda certainly bewitched him, Blake replies. Rog says
Amanda is alluring & has some great qualities, but she has nothing on
Blake. He gives Blake a pep talk about her stellar qualities & says
everything good in her came from Holly. He hands her 2 stuffed bears &
tells her to imagine that they're her sons. How does she feel? Warm &
protective, she replies, a beatific smile on her face. Rog says that's
how he feels about her. Only she gives his life any meaning. She's the
one perfect thing he's done; his priceless gift to the world. Blake
smiles & hugs her dad. He promises to always take care of her. He says
Ross will come around. Blake can't believe he wants that for her, but he
says he loves her a lot more than he despises Ross. Blake hopes Rog is
right.

REVA'S HOUSE: Josh says Annie didn't tell him anything about the sister
stuff, even though Annie told Reva she would tell Josh everything. Reva
admits to smashing up a few things in the house. Josh thinks it's weird
how Annie suddenly got all reasonable about the divorce today. Reva
agrees. Josh says maybe Annie knew Reva was going to blow the whistle &
took the easy way out. Whatever. It doesn't matter. What matters is that
he & Reva are together now. They start to kiss, but the phone rings.

It's Alan, inviting Reva to the cocktail party. She wasn't planning on
going. Alan asks her to reconsider. He says Annie told him about their
latest blowout & there are some things he'd like to talk to Reva about.
Reva promises to be there.

D.B.C.: Annie thanks Alan & says she won't ask him any more favors.
After tonight, it will be all over.

REVA'S HOUSE: Reva fills Josh in on the phone call. She's sure Alan was
the one who helped Annie lay the trail. Josh suggests they go to the
party together. Reva's not sure it's a good idea, but Josh says why not,
since Annie's going for the divorce. Reva likes the idea of going out in
public with Josh, not having to hide. Before they go to get changed,
Reva has a delicate question. She asks about Josh & Annie sleeping
together, and Annie getting preggers. Josh says he wishes he could go
back & make it never have happened. All he can say is that it wasn't
planned. He wonders why Reva asked. It's nothing, she says. Josh says
he's going to take care of the baby, because it's his, but everything
else between him & Annie is over. Reva says that soon they will be a
family again, and Annie will never be able to hurt them again. She hugs
Josh happily.

D.B.C.: Alan surmises that Annie will play the wronged wife to the hilt.
Annie says if she's going to lose her husband to Reva, she's going to do
it with grace & honor. Alan asks if there isn't another reason that
Annie wants Reva at the party. Annie says no, but she can tell that Alan
doesn't trust her. He says he's concerned about Annie. He doesn't want
this to backfire on her. Annie says it's really nice having a friend
like Alan. She doesn't have to pretend to be a saint, and he doesn't
judge her. She can trust him. He asks if she trust him enough to tell
him her plan. She denies having one & pushes him out the door so she can
dress for the party. He offers to wait for her, but she say she wants to
make an entrance. Alan departs, and Annie begs her dead baby to hold on
just a little longer.

SPAULDING MANSION: The guests start arriving. Ross goes to make a phone
call. Nettie informs Amanda that someone who's not on the guest list is
insisting on talking to her.

Ross leaves a message for Blake that he thinks it's better if she
doesn't come to the party. He can't give her all the details, but asks
her to trust him on this.

Out by the front door, Amanda deals with a reporter who has come to
collect her fee for the article about Ross in the Mirror. Amanda says
it's not a good time, but the reporter is tenacious. Amanda pulls off
her earrings & says they're worth way more than the promised amount. The
reporter wonders what Amanda has against the Marlers. Amanda says she's
just paying back an old friend.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Blake, dressed now in a little bronze dress, finishes a
phone call to Michelle, checking on the boys. Rog wants to get going
now. Blake says she needs to check on a message that came in while she
was on the phone, but Rog convinces her to let it wait, because Holly is
waiting for her. Blake says both Holly & Roger have been a huge support
to her & she's ever so grateful. Suddenly, Blake worries that Amanda has
had her sights on Ross all along & is just using Roger to make Ross
jealous. Roger laughs at this preposterous idea & Blake heads out the
door. Roger looks a little worried.

REVA'S HOUSE: Reva comes downstairs in a rather demure white dress. Josh
thinks she's never looked more beautiful. Reva says she's never been
happier. He asks why she's crying. She says it's because she's missed
all the little bits of their life together. Josh has missed their life
together too. He's missed his wife. Reva wants to be his wife again.
Josh says they can practice tonight. They kiss again & are tempted to
skip the party, but Reva doesn't want to pass up a chance to get
information from Alan. Reva promises that after tonight, nothing & no
one will come between them. More kissing.

SPAULDING HOUSE: Alan greets Annie & says she looks stunning. Annie says
Alan's the best man in the place, and straightens his tie. He's glad to
have Annie's company.

Abby, in a very un-Goshen-like sparkly black dress with teeny-tiny
straps and cleavage, helps herself to an hors d'ouevre and looks around
the room. Ross glad-hands a few people, then joins Amanda & thanks her
for her help. Amanda hands him a glass of champagne & offers a toast to
the next D.A. Ross sees Blake & Roger enter. Blake comments that Amanda
is trying to make Roger jealous before she even knows he's arrived.
Amanda excuses herself from Ross & heads toward the door.

Amanda greets Rick & introduces him to a major donor to the hospital.
Rick sees Abigail across the room & their eyes lock.

Annie comments that the guest of honor isn't there yet, but Alan says
she's just arrived & she's not alone. Reva & Josh smile at each other as
Nettie takes Reva's coat. "Go ahead & smile, Reva," says Annie. "By the
end of the evening, you'll have nothing to smile about," she adds
grimly, as the screen fades to black.
