Ok, my site seems to work well in IE and Opera, but in Firefox it puts the header image over the whole section of text.

Does anyone know how to fix this without editing the html so much that it makes the layout look completely different than it does in IE? The way I have it in IE is ideally how I want it, but if it ends up being like it is in Opera, that would be ok too. Just as long as the picture doesn't cover up the content.

You haven't declared a DOCTYPE or CHARSET - so the browsers are simply guessing how to display the content

As there are some tags that don't close and others that don't open, it's rather impressive that IE and Opera guessed enough to display anything Wink

Also... you link to a stylesheet - but never use it... luckily I guess cos it has a few errors: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.starlitdrops.com%2Fstylesheet.css&warning=1&profile=css21&usermedium=all

Anyhow...

Try this instead - substituting some meaningful text for the three instances of "an alt attribute here":

Code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
   <head>
      <title>
         Starlit Drops
      </title>

      <meta    http-equiv="Content-Type"
            content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

   </head>

   <body>
      <div    style="position:absolute; top:40px; left:228px; width:600px; height:450px;">
         <img    src="http://www.starlitdrops.com/splash8.png"
            width="560"
            height="371"
            usemap="#Splash"
            border="0"
            alt="an alt attribute here">
            <br/>
      </div>

      <map    id="Splash"
            name="Splash">

            <area    shape="rect"
                  coords="241,279,342,344"
                  href="index2.html"
                  title="Enter"
                  alt="an alt attribute here">

            <area    shape="default"
                  nohref="nohref"
                  alt="an alt attribute here">
      </map>
   </body>
</html>
